Clean that Bling!

Keep your beloved ring as blingy as the day he gave it to you with this jewelry cleaning recipe.  The ingredients are things you probably already have!

What you’ll need:

Small bowl
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 teaspoon dish detergent
1 cup hot water
Aluminum foil
Paper towel
Old toothbrush

Directions:

Gather your ingredients. The salt, baking soda, and aluminum foil create a chemical exchange called an ion transfer, which naturally cleans metals.

Line the bowl with a square of aluminum foil (shiny side up), and then add the salt, baking soda, and dish detergent. Now add the hot water and watch the magic happen!  Place your ring in the bowl and let soak for ten minutes.

Remove your jewelry and use the toothbrush to gently scrub around the prongs and grooves in your ring. This recipe is safe for silver, gold, diamonds, sapphires, emeralds and rubies.  Do not use on pearls! Rinse after cleaning, and pat dry. You may want to check with your jeweler to make sure it’s safe first!
