Wedding Cake is a big deal!
Whether you like cake or not there is a special meaning for it. Originally made of wheat to symbolize fertility and prosperity, the cake would be thrown at the bride to encourage good fortune in these areas. Thus, the smashing the cake in the face was born.
Additionally, saving the top tier of your cake and eating it on your one year anniversary is also an omen of good luck.
So you see, it’s not all about having dessert. Many bakers will now make you an anniversary cake for free or little charge on your anniversary.
But what if you just don’t like cake? There are now several anti-cake options such as cookies, cupcakes, cake pops, pie, or basically whatever you can dream up for a sweet treat after dinner.
Now a days it’s rare for a cake face smash to even happen as so much time and money has been spent on hair, makeup and wedding attire, but it’s something to consider if you’re the superstitious type.
Things to consider:
- How many people are attending your wedding?
- What do you want your cake to look like?
- What does the cost include? IE: Delivery, cake stand, cake cutter, anniversary cake, etc.
