How did you start your business? I have been smoking foods for over 43 years. I love it. In 2010 I opened a BBQ supply store in GJ. I have always wanted to put my foodie instincts out for others to enjoy. We started doing “Free sample Fridays” at the store, allowing customer to sample some of the product we had available in the store. This led to many request for my food and request to do catering events. The demand was overwhelming and thus I decided to open Practical Smokers BBQ Catering and more…
What do you love about weddings? I am a bit of a romantic. I also enjoy seeing everyone come together and celebrate the start of a new life for the parties involved.
What is the most rewarding part of your job? Watching people sitting down and taking their first bite of our food. When the mouth opens wide with a “WOW” and their heads nodding up and down. All the money in the world can’t give you as much reward as those two expressions.
What is the most challenging part of your job? Making sure everything is perfect. I stress over each aspect and item that I am cooking. Luckily, I have a sensitive enough palette to know what needs to be added to make the dish just that much better.
What do you want brides/grooms to know about you/your company? We are there for you. It is your day, and we want to be remembered as part of the success of your event.
What are some tips that you have for a newly engaged bride? Respect, trust, keep the faith, say I love you and mean it!
