When did you start your business? We have been hosting couples for their special day for over eight years as WVE at Hillside, CO. In the fall of 2023, we purchased a beautiful property East of Paonia on Kebler Pass and renovated an old church camp into something unique and special.
How did you start your business? We have been in hospitality in various aspects for over 25 years. My husband is a general contractor and we had the opportunity at our last venue to renovate an old grange hall that was use for community for events for over 100 years. The locals had generations of memories and the hall needed life and laughter again. Weddings and events were a natural extension of our hospitality background paired with our vision in historical renovation. Now we have our own property, once a youth camp in much need of repair, we are able to offer stunning views, renovated lodging, and facilities with our love of hospitality.
What do you love about weddings? It’s cliche but the uniqueness of each one! From the amazing sets, to the stunning couples, to the fun families and friends that join the couple to share their special day.
What is the most rewarding part of your job? Two things: Helping the bride and groom work through the logistics of their vision come alive on our property, and two meeting the families at the reception that often come from afar and want to know more about the area.
What is the most challenging part of your job? Sitting down and doing the paperwork- I’d rather be outside.
What do you want couples to know about you and your company? We pride ourselves on going the extra mile, making sure the last little things don’t get missed; from moving a table or high top to a better location to stashing the box that got left out by the decorating crew.. It’s the little things if not done get noticed, but if done make it seamless.
What are some tips you have for newly engaged couples? It’s about starting a beautiful journey of life together, all the rest is just icing on the special day. Timelines are guidelines not set in stone, be flexible let the small rain shower blow over. Pinterest is your friend and enemy– so many choices. Simple is beautiful. Enjoy the moment!
